St. Clare’s is called in Mission to seek the face of the Lord Jesus Christ in everyone we meet, and to let everyone we meet see the face of the Lord Jesus Christ in us. We respond to that call by reaching out to share our resources and serve the needs of others locally, nationally and internationally. |

Gulf Coast Hurricane Response: St. Clare’s members traveled to New Orleans to touch the lives of those devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana, we gutted flood-ravaged homes, distributed supplies, and lent a loving ear to those who needed to talk. Plans are underway to return. Locally: · St. Clare’s Christian Preschool provides a loving, nurturing program with a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children ages 2-5. · Vacation Bible School, a 5-day program for ages 4 through 5th grades, is held each summer. · Boy Scouts: St. Clare’s is the Charter Organization for Troop 908, which was founded in 1989 and is now the largest Boy Scout Troop in the Tri-Valley. · Helping Hands: Part of our response to Jesus’ command to ‘love one another as God has loved us’ is our commitment to help our extended parish family in times of need with meals, emergency babysitting, transportation and more. · Shawl Ministry: Those who knit or crochet use their talents to create shawls for the sick, the aged, the infirm and the needy. Each stitch is done in prayer, and the finished shawls are blessed by the whole community: “May this mantle be a safe haven . . . a sacred place of security and well-being, sustaining and embracing in good times as well as difficult ones. May the one who receives this shawl be cradled in hope, kept in joy, graced with peace, and wrapped in love.”
· Open Heart Kitchen: St. Clare’s works alongside other Tri-Valley churches to cook and serve meals in Livermore and Pleasanton.
· Pleasanton Convalescent Hospital: Once a month, St. Clare’s member Deannie O’Cain leads a Sunday Service for those who cannot get to church.
· Habitat for Humanity, East Bay: St. Clare's is a Covenant Congregation for Habitat for Humanity East Bay.
· Alcoholics Anonymous meets at St. Clare’s on Tuesdays from 7-9:30 p.m. · National Alliance on Mental Illness is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of those living with serious mental illness and their families. A NAMI family support group meets at St. Clare’s at 7 p.m. on the 4th Monday of each month, and a Bi-Polar support group meets every Wednesday at 7 p.m. |
