Margaret Secour, daughter of organist Michael Secour, is a cradle Episcopalian and began singing in church choirs at the age of six. A classically trained opera singer, she has performed with San Francisco Opera Chorus, San Francisco Symphony Chorus, San Francisco Lyric Opera, Lamplighters, and Oakland Civic Theatre; toured nationally with Pasadena-based Opera a la Carte, a Gilbert and Sullivan company; and appeared internationally with Master Chorale of Orange County. Ms. Secour’s stage credits include roles in opera, operetta, oratorio, and solo recitals; as well as back up singing engagements for nationally recognized recordings and performances.
In 2005, she discovered the joy of teaching and joined the faculty of the San Francisco Boys Chorus, where she taught for 5 years. Margaret received additional education from Holy Names University in the Kodály Method and also conducting.
In addition to her work at St. Clare’s she teaches music at St. Patrick School in Rodeo, part of the Catholic Diocese of Oakland.
