Organist

Organist - Michael Secour

Michael Secour has served as a musician in the Episcopal church for more than 45 years. He was Choirmaster and Organist for the Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin in San Francisco for 33 years until his retirement in 2009. He has B.A. and M.A. degrees in music from California State University at Long Beach. His Master’s Thesis and Recital focused on early Spanish organ music.

Michael is an active member of the American Guild of Organists and the Association of Anglican Musicians. His solo organ recitals include appearances at the Carmel Bach Festival and at Grace Cathedral. In 1990 he served as organist and pianist for the Pacific Mozart Ensemble’s concert tour of France, performing in churches in Paris, Orleans, St. Emilion, Chartres Cathedral, and at the Toulouse Music Festival.

Michael’s retirement ended after 5 months when he came to St. Clare’s as organist in February 2010.
