A Mission of Spiritual Companionship

… where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope …

At Sacred Space, our primary mission is to provide spiritual companionship to homeless and marginalized men and women who seek a non-threatening way to be with others in relationship and in community.  St. Clare's has sponsored the Sacred Space mission since its inception in 2011.

Sacred Space is un-housed and housed people called by God into Christian community and ministry for the purpose of transforming all our lives.  Sacred Space draws from the resources of diverse congregations, living into God's compassion for the poor.  We give voice to the voiceless, we respect the dignity of every human being, and we see the face of Christ in ourselves and others as we gather outdoors for worship.

Our weekly outdoor worship services are for anyone who wishes to attend.  Singing, praying, preaching and the Eucharist are offered, followed by opportunities for private conversation, prayer, blessing or counseling and lunch.  We offer a free bagged lunch of a sandwich, juice or water, cookie and fruit.

Everyone is welcome to attend. We meet every Sunday at 1:00 pm, rain or shine.

Sacred Space East Bay: Oakland. We hold our services at the park on 32nd and San Pablo Avenue.  There is parking right across the street from the park. See Map.
