Welcome Video

Our Services

The people of Saint Clare’s worship together every Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., for about an hour. The 8 a.m. service has no music (except for the first Sunday each month when volunteer musicians and singers ‘make a joyful noise’) and no cameras. The 10:15 a.m. service has music led by director Velma Chan, with organ, piano, and choir, and is live-streamed (a camera-free zone is available). Children of all ages are welcome to be with their parents during both worship services. There are ‘busy bags’ at the entrance for your convenience.

The format of our worship service follows a tradition going back almost two thousand years. We begin with the Liturgy of the Word, which includes readings from the Bible. A 15-20 minute sermon explores the themes of the readings and what they mean for us today. The Liturgy of the Eucharist follows, during which the bread and wine are blessed, then shared. All are welcome to participate, whether you take communion or simply want a blessing.  If you want a blessing, but not the bread and wine, simply cross your arms on your chest as a signal to those distributing communion. Gluten-free wafers or individually-sealed communion ‘kits’ are available — just ask!

About Our Services

The service ends with a prayer of thanksgiving, a blessing, and a final hymn. Then we are encouraged to ’go out into the world to love and serve the Lord.’ But before you do, join us for coffee, snacks, and fellowship on the patio or in the back of the church!

Special Needs

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

We welcome you and want you to have everything you need to worship with us. If you have special needs that are not addressed here, please ask an usher so we can help!

  • Mobility issues? The church is wheelchair accessible.  If you need assistance getting to your seat, please ask an usher. While those around you may engage in what Episcopalians call “Pew Calisthenics,” please do not feel that you need to stand, kneel, or sit at any time. We want you to be safe and comfortable!
  • Bathrooms are available at the back of the church and in the Sunday School wing.
  • A changing table is available in one of the bathrooms, at the back of the church.
  • Gluten-free communion bread is available. So are individually-sealed communion ‘kits’ for those concerned about sharing the common cup. Simply ask the person distributing communion.
