Advent & Christmas at St. Clare’s

Advent Lessons & Carols on Advent 4, December 20, 10 a.m. online:  St. Clare’s Pleasanton and St. Bartholomew’s Livermore will do a joint Advent Lessons and Carols online at our regular service. A mix of readers from both churches and joint choirs & clergy will ring out the fourth Sunday.

The Longest Night, December 21, 8 p.m. online:  A series of mediations, music, and candlelight will focus on the deep longings of Advent and help us better hold our individual and communal grief.

Christmas Eve, December 24

Pageant Service & Communion,  5 p.m. in the church parking lot: This Family  Christmas Eve service will feature our pre-recorded Christmas pageant on a 20-foot movie screen, the singing of Christmas carols and Holy Communion from the safety of your car via radio station FM 107.9.

Festive Choral Service, 8 p.m. online:  Join St. Clare’s Parish Choir as we sing beloved Christmas carols, hear the Gospel story of Jesus’ birth, and share in virtual communion. Together, we will make the season bright!

Christmas Lessons & Carols, December 27, 10 a.m. online: The six congregations of the Southern Alameda Deanery come together in a wonderful celebration of Christmas Lessons & Carols. Every church will share in readings, choral and community singing.

Join us for worship:

Holy Eucharist Live, Sundays at 10 a.m. on:

Good News from the Lot, Sundays at 8 a.m.: Hear the good news (safely) through your car radio on 107.9 FM in our church parking lot!

Let’s do some Holy Name-Calling!  We have so many names and titles for Jesus — Emmanuel, Holy Savior, Branch of Jesse’s tree, Blessed Babe.  Click here to join our Advent activity guide, a family devotional inspired by scripture and based on some of the names people have given to Jesus over the years, with new content each week. For a copy of a booklet with all four weeks, contact the church office.

Let’s Fill the Stable!  You are invited to share the journey through Advent with our neighbors in need. Each week, as we add characters to our creche scene — the Holy Family, the animals, shepherds, angels, and (finally!) the baby Jesus — we will also “fill the stable” with those things they will need. And we will do it together, sharing pictures along the way! This week, we are raising funds for Alameda County Food Bank. Click here to share photos of your nativity-scene-in-progress!
